Volunteer Opportunities

When the need arises, Spectrum MRC advertises volunteer positions on this page. You can also register your details on our volunteer database by completing the volunteer application form below and returning it to volunteer@spectrumvic.org.au. Don’t forget to let us know the kind of volunteer work you are looking for so we can try and match you properly if something comes up!

Multicultural Playgroup Walker Street Housing Estate Northcote
  • To support the Playgroup Facilitator to coordinate the multicultural playgroup on a weekly basis.
  • To engage the playgroup participants through relevant games activities.
  • To support the Playgroup Facilitator with any administrative tasks relating to the group including kindergarten enrolment and health checks.

Homework Tutor Preston The African Homework Support Program provides support to young people and children fromAfrican backgrounds. Students are supported by a maths tutor from Darebin Youth Services(DYS), Two Student Coordinators from DYS and Spectrum MRC and volunteer tutors fromSpectrum MRC who support students in a range of subjects including English. Volunteers aresupported by and report to the Spectrum Coordinator. The program is open to all African Australian young people and children, the majority of students attending are from refugeebackgrounds. The program has developed in response to the recognised need for out of schoolhours homework and study support for young African Australian students. ongoing
Drive to Thrive Preston/Coburg The Drive to Thrive Project aims to provide 20 newly arrived refugees and migrants with targetedtraining and practiced supervised experience on the roads. Drive to Thrive aims to improve refugeeand migrant’s mobility and consequently increase positive opportunities such as employment,education and social inclusion and decrease isolation and the feelings of disempowerment that settlingin a new country can invoke. ongoing
