Aged Care & Disability

The Spectrum MRC Aged Services Program provides a holistic and integrated service system that incorporates diverse range of services for older people and people with disabilities who are from CALD backgrounds. These services include:

  • Intake and assessment for aged people wanting to access respite and home support services
  • Multicultural Home Support Services (MHSS) providing specialist multi-lingual home support to frail aged and people with disabilities
  • Planned Activity Groups (PAG) that provide day program support and social support to ethno-specific groups
  • Transport services, including mini-buses driven by accredited drivers
  • Housing information and referral for people who are frail and aged
  • Advocacy and support to ethnic Senior Citizens Clubs
  • Supported Access Pilot project providing advocacy and support to aged people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Disability Respite services targeting carers with adult children with a disability
  • Clifton Respite Program, day respite centre servicing Vietnamese, Chinese, Macedonian, and Italian communities for employed  funded under the National Respite for Carers Program

Spectrum MRC aged services provide the opportunity for older people to access the service system at different entry points dependent upon need at any given time. This gives individuals the opportunity to build on existing and trusted relationships with Spectrum MRC staff, maximising the benefits of continuity of care. The Spectrum MRC’s capacity for flexibility and innovation allows for the creation of special programs to meet the needs of clients from emerging cultural groups or as new needs are identified.
