workingWELL - Interactive learning support
Through funding from DEEWR’s 2008/09 Workplace English Language and Literacy (WELL) Program Resource Project, the Spectrum Education and Training (SET) Centre was contracted to develop a CD-ROM for participants of vocational training within the Community Services Training Package, specifically:
- CHC30708 - Certificate III in Children's Services;
- CHC30308 - Certificate III in Home and Community Care; &
- CHC30208 - Certificate III in Aged Care Work.
workingWELL supports participants from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds and/or those with Language, Literacy and Numeracy difficulties to successfully engage with and complete accredited training.
Eighteen different multimedia activities cover the 10 Units common across these three courses, including quizzes, problem solving activities as well as information searches. There is a comprehensive glossary (with audio) to assist the students to correctly pronounce the key words in each industry. As well, there are numerous downloadable files that offer industry specific examples, such as centre policies.
