Generally hours will be worked Monday - Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm, however flexibility is required, including attendance at monthly Board Meetings and SMRC events.

Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre (SMRC) has 25 years experience working with migrants and refugees to successfully settle and participate in all aspects of community life.

Our Preston Office requires a highly organized, capable administrator who is flexible and able to respond quickly to changing circumstances and priorities. In addition to being highly skilled in the administrative area, you’ll need highly developed relationship and influencing skills and be able to work in a collaborative way with staff across the organization.

This position coordinates a small team of customer service / administrative staff to deliver high quality support and service to internal and external customers. The role also provides executive support and assistance to the CEO and Board, ensuring the smooth functioning of the organisation.

The successful candidate will ideally have relevant tertiary qualifications together with extensive administrative experience, staff supervision, proven initiative and a working knowledge of the community sector.

Requirements

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in a senior administrative role.
  • A strong customer focused approach and being able to both anticipate, understand and meet the needs of key customers (CEO / Board).
  • Sound understanding of current technology and contemporary administrative systems and proven results in streamlining and improving systems.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and high level interpersonal skills in working with diverse people across a range of disciplines and backgrounds
  • Ability to quickly master a new brief, synthesize or become familiar with new information or new innovation(s)
  • Highly proficient in all MS Office applications and the ability to present information in the most appropriate format for the audience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple tasks and prioritizing in a challenging environment
  • A high level of initiative and being willing and able to go the extra mile when needed.
  • Be aware of, or have an interest in migrant and refugee issues.
  • A positive, helpful disposition and a sense of humour!
  • A current drivers license and access to own vehicle during work hours
  • Demonstrated positive values of integrity, accountability, reliability, working as part of a team consistent with the requirements of the contract and Spectrum.

Other Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Ability to speak a second language will be highly regarded
