As a specialist provider of services to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, Spectrum identified the need for culturally tailored methods for training and assessment of CALD clients. Spectrum Education and Training (SET) was established in June 2007 as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in response to this identified need. The business emphasis is on the delivery of

  • high quality training and assessment services,
  • developing culturally tailored material for its own courses,
  • documenting best practice CALD teaching and assessment methodologies and training other providers.

With continued growth, we are now looking for a FT experienced Administrative Officer to join the team and be responsible for:

  • Providing a quality and responsive service for all people in contact with SET, ensuring that all clients have a positive experience when contacting the Centre
  • Undertaking a range of office and administrative tasks necessary for the effective functioning of the RTO
  • Establishing and maintaining accurate student records and ensure all necessary RTO documentation is collected and filed appropriately
  • Providing high quality administrative support to the Manager and trainers.

We’re looking for an experienced and multi-skilled administrator with proven initiative and strong customer service skills.

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous office / administrative experience, ideally within the vocational training sector
  • Demonstrated initiative and experience in setting up and tailoring administrative and support service systems within an office environment
  • Strong customer focused approach and ability to create a warm, welcoming environment for CALD students
  • A flexible, responsive and helpful approach
  • Highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks and to change priorities as the need arises
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills, including good attention to detail
  • A sound understanding of the administrative requirements of a newly established RTO
  • Proficient in MS office and the ability to present information in varying formats
  • Demonstrated positive values of integrity, accountability, reliability, working as part of a team consistent with the requirements of the contract and Spectrum

Other Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience working with CALD clients/student
  • Exposure to ESL environment
  • Past experience with accounting functions for a small office – including accounts payable & receivable and banking
  • A current driver’s license and access to own vehicle during work hours
  • Ability to speak a second language
