PARENTING IN A NEW CULTURE Part time (22.8hr per week) Congolese, Burundian, Sierra Leone & Liberian Based in Preston Parenting in a new culture is an exciting new initiative of Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre aiming at strengthening and supporting parents from CALD backgrounds to raise their children effectively in the Australian context. The parenting programs for African Refugee Families aims at piloting Parenting Skills Development Courses and providing individual parenting support and advice to parents from the African communities living around Melbourne. The project also aims at developing parenting resources for parents within the various African communities written in their own community language and also in the English language. The parenting program for African Refugee Families is supported by the Department of Family and Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FACSIA) through the Local Answers Initiative (Round 5). We are seeking three part time Parenting Educators to work with parents from either the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi or Liberia & Sierra Leone to enhance their parenting skills to raise their children effectively in a different cultural, social and educational environment.
