We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join a progressive non-profit organisation that specialises in services and support for migrants and refugees. As a talented communication and PR professional, you'll be responsible for three main areas:

  • Promoting innovative services that make a REAL difference to the lives of migrants and refugees
  • Utilising media as a tool to both influence the policy agenda and showcase best practice in service design and delivery for migrants and refugees. Spectrum takes a strengths based approach to migrant issues and has proven experience with innovative solutions!
  • Build the capabilities of key managers and staff within the organisation to use PR as a powerful and cost effective tool

Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Considerable experience in a public relations role, involving the effective development, use and assessment of media and promotional campaigns, which could be translated into a community setting
  • High-level conceptual skills and the ability to think strategically and be creative and innovative in the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies
  • A proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and organisations, and to be a persuasive advocate in promoting the organisation’s established vision and objectives
  • Ability to coach and provide guidance in the development of others’ communications-related skills, and, in so doing, leading and influencing others
  • Ability to identify and respond to internal and external stakeholder’s underlying needs and establish and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to gain agreement through exemplary influencing and negotiation skills, and managing projects from planning to achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in promoting programs
  • Excellent writing skills including the ability to interpret and write information in clear and concise manner appropriate for the selected audience.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work within a Quality Assurance environment
  • Demonstrated strong results focus, incorporating the ability to build measurements and objectives into business development
  • Demonstrated interest in, and ability to take advantage of, developments and opportunities within the media as they occur, as well as experience in liaising with members of the media and an understanding of their needs
  • Exceptional organisational skills and capacity to self-manage workload in a deadline driven and fast-paced environment.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License
