About the Role

Spectrum Aged and Disability Services provides a range of supports for ageing people and people with disabilities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as their carers. Our programs and activities are designed to assist people to remain in their homes, to support carers and to promote healthy ageing via:

  • group activities and social support
  • home based support including respite for carers
  • Information and advocacy and individual support

 Programs include: Adult Day Care and Social Support groups, Multicultural Disabilility Respite , Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged, National Respite for Carers Program, Multicultural Home Support Service, Multicultural Community Choir, Northern Federation of Senior Citizens Clubs, Supported Access Program and a variety of special projects.

The role of the Disability Care Administrator is to work a part of a team managing the day to day administration and operation of the Respite for Older Carers of Adults with a Disability program, including liaison with families receiving services and workers providing services, as well as assisting in the expansion and promotion of the program.

Requirements

Essential

  • Relevant qualifications and experience in the disability sector.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the care needs of adults with disabilities and their carers.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse communities and an understanding of the needs of migrant carers.
  • Excellent administrative skills including rostering and data entry.
  • A proven strong customer service ethos.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise, meet deadlines and juggle competing demands, working in a fast paced environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing needs and service requirements.
  • Well developed IT skills with accurate data entry with basic computer literacy and English language literacy and fluency.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English language.
  • A current drivers license and access to own vehicle and mobile phone during work hours.
  • Demonstrated positive values of integrity, accountability, reliability, working as part of a team consistent with the requirements of the contract and Spectrum.

 Other Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Ability to speak a second language will be highly regarded
