| About the Role |
New Family Relationship Centre CALD focused role Participate in the development of a new service Great pay & conditions, including salary packaging The Broadmeadows Family Relationship Centre is a newly funded service involving Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre, MacKillop Family Services & Relationships Australia. The centre helps separating families to achieve workable parenting arrangements outside the court system by providing information, support, referral and dispute resolution services in culturally appropriate ways. The Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner will be responsible for undertaking complex case work and providing a culturally appropriate dispute resolution process for families. | Requirements |
1. Qualifications
- Social Work Degree/Counselling/Psychology Degree/Social Science Degree/ or equivalent to this range of qualifications
- Qualifications in family dispute resolution/or preparedness to undertake training
- Achieve a satisfactory Working With Children Check Card – essential
- Ability to meet Accreditation standards of the Family Law Act Regulations
2. Knowledge
- To be culturally competent with an understanding of the operation of cultural norms and values among diverse populations and socially excluded groups, in family functioning, in intervention design and how these will effect views of the Australian system and use/non use/rejection of its systems throughout the resolution process
- Demonstrable skills in assessment and screening for family violence and child focus skills
- An understanding of family violence and its effect on members of the family group, particularly children
- Casework experience with newly arrived and migrant groups
- Ability to undertake complex casework
3. Skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Well developed oral and written communication skills
- Group Facilitation Skills
- Public speaking and training
- Good organizational and record keeping skills
- Ability to work with interpreters and in co facilitation arrangements with kith, kin, community leaders and other significant parties nominated by the client
- Demonstrated experience and strong commitment to client casework and coordination with culturally diverse clients;
- Strong advocacy skills with culturally and linguistically diverse client groups especially clients from humanitarian and refugee backgrounds;
- Familiarity with MS office applications
- Demonstrated positive values of integrity, accountability, reliability, working as part of a team consistent with the requirements of the contract and Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre.
Other Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Ability to speak a relevant second language will be highly regarded
- A current driver’s licence
