About the Role

As a position which works with staff across the organisation and stakeholders from across the sector and communities, this position will play a key role in achieving the goals within these key result areas. The role is pivotal to Spectrum MRC successfully harnessing and fostering existing and new relationships for program partnerships, ensuring our responsiveness as we gain new grants/tenders to build community capacity amongst migrant and refugee communities and ensure the Spectrum MRC achieves its vision in all service delivery areas.

This position involves evidence-based submission writing, which is integral to the provision of business development for all of Spectrum MRC’s core service delivery areas - Settlement and Family Services (S&FS), Spectrum Education & Training (SET) and Aged & Disability Services (A&DS). Utilising the

  • evidence-based quantative and qualitative data/research collated by the Research Officer;
  • social planning and advocacy undertaken by the Community Engagement Facilitator,
  • awareness raising and documentation of success stories in the public arena by staff across the organisation, facilitated by the Communications & PR Adviser,

the incumbent will ensure Spectrum MRC’s grant/tender submissions reflects innovative best-practice.

Requirements

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Development or International Development OR equivalent work experience;
  • High-level conceptual skills and the ability to think strategically and be creative and innovative in the development of tender responses and grant submissions;
  • Highly developed project management skills and proven ability to achieve results,
  • Demonstrated experience in multi-tasking and achieving multiple, tight timeframes under pressure, whilst maintaining a high attention to detail;
  • Skills in writing in a convincing manner, by demonstrating an evidence-based approach and articulating a compelling vision which directly responds to a criterion, within either grants/tender submissions, reports and the like;
  • Experience in initiating and fostering partnerships with a wide range of individuals and organisations, which deliver real benefits for all parties;
  • Demonstrate a self-confidence and political astuteness in your approach and dealings;
  • Capacity and initiative to seek and synthesise relevant information regarding government policy, directions and opportunities as it relates to the work of Spectrum;
  • Ability to facilitate, coach and guide the development of others’ skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to gain support and cooperation from others;
  • Broad networks and a working knowledge of government processes so that you can have maximum influence.
  • Past experience in writing tender/grants within a community services environment, with a proven history of successful tender submissions;
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License
  • A second language
  • Knowledge of best practice service models for migrant communities
  • Experience in working with migrant communities.
