Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in law/practicing certificate and/or current registration with the Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA)
- Considerable and recent experience as a registered migration agent
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in all aspects of immigration law
- A commitment to the philosophy of SMRC and principles of social justice
- High level interpersonal skills, including effective written and oral communication, along with an ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment, in order to liaise with all stakeholders including members of the legal profession, the public, and staff at all levels
- Advanced organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines within short time frames with minimum supervision in a high pressure legal office environment
- Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to legal, political and other issues
- Initiative and demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve targets / results
- Extensive knowledge and ability to use computer systems and databases, including proficiency in use of MS office software, Legendcom and other migration legislation databases
Other Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Understanding and managing the unique professional requirements of a small legal office;
- A second language;
- A current driver’s license.
