On the Job Coaches (Hospitality, Child Care & Transport)
Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre is really excited to trial a new project that provides intensive on-the-job support, training and acculturation for long term unemployed clients. We’ll be matching up long-term unemployed clients who have undertaken the pre-requisite training in a skill-shortage area, with a coach. Initially we will be recruiting coaches from one of the following areas:
The key responsibilities of an On-The-Job-Coach (OJC) will be: a) Introducing and inducting the job seeker to the job description and daily job responsibilities, tools and technology. b) Assisting the job seeker to form relationships in the workplace and understand reporting and organisational structures. c) Assessing the job seeker in performing the job competencies and identifying skill gaps and any additional training requirements and reporting this back to the employment consultant. d) Providing tips in understanding the particular workplace culture and how to adjust and adapt effectively within a team setting. We’re looking for OJC’s that are not only highly experienced and respected professionals in their chosen field, but who really want to make a positive difference in people’s lives. OJC’s will need outstanding interpersonal skills, be open, down to earth, patient but firm. You’ll need to be able to build trusting relationships and be able to positively lead and influence jobseekers. Experience working with culturally & linguistically diverse clients is vital and the ability to communicate using plain, simple English. Whilst there is flexibility in how and when the support is provided, OJC’s will need to generally be available Mon-Fri.
