| About the Role |
The GOOD SPORTS FOR DIVERSITY project will focus on raising Cultural Awareness amongst non Muslim communities and developing social cohesion amongst Muslim and non- Muslim youth though sport. The project aims to contribute to greater social cohesion amongst Muslim and non-Muslim youth in northern metropolitan Melbourne by utilising sport as a vehicle to address the following issues
The project aims to have the following impact on our local community
The project has been funded by the Department of immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), National Action Plan (NAP). Working closely with a steering committee, the project is designed to enhance the participation of Australian-Muslim youth in the social and cultural life of Australia, resulting in mutual understanding and an increased likelihood of integration. It will address the priority area of encouraging interactions between the Muslim and non-Muslim population within local sports clubs (football, cricket, and basketball) in the northern metropolitan area of Melbourne.
