Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre (SMRC) has 25 years experience working with migrants and refugees to successfully settle and participate in all aspects of community life. Spectrum’s Settlement and Family Services team (SFST) provides a range of programs and services to support the smooth transition of refugees and humanitarian entrants, helping them address and overcome the challenges of settling in a new country.

We are looking for an experienced and qualified settlement caseworker to join our diverse and talented team in Preston. Your role will include:

• immigration and general settlement casework;
• designing and delivering cross-cultural training to service providers;
• facilitating community capacity building projects.

Essential

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work / community development or related disciplines and experience in the area of migrant settlement or a related human services sector
• Groupwork and facilitation skills
• Previous experience working with newly arrived communities on settlement related issues
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent cross cultural awareness and case management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
• Computer skills, including proficient use of Microsoft Office suite of programs
• Demonstrated positive values of integrity, accountability, reliability and working as part of a team.

Other Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Ability to speak a second language will be highly regarded
• Access to own vehicle during work hours
• Current Migration Agent Registration
• Fluency in a relevant (humanitarian) language
