About the Role

Spectrum MRC has recently signed a new, 3-year contract with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) to deliver CCS. This new contract involves changes to the existing program, which have led to the creation of the Senior Settlement Case Manager position. Whilst service innovation is an ongoing process within CCS, the next six months will see the implementation of major changes, and the Senior Settlement Case Manager will be a key driver of these changes.

The Senior Settlement Case Manager (Senior CM) will be responsible for undertaking Crisis Interventions, Initial Needs Assessments and developing Case Management Plans. In most cases, after this initial work and planning has been completed, the Senior CM will undertake a thorough and supported handover to a Settlement Case Manager, who will undertake the Case Management component of the program. The Senior CM will be responsible for some ongoing Case Management. The Senior CM will contribute their professional knowledge and expertise to ongoing service innovation within a team setting.

Requirements

Essential

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work or related disciplines
  2. Minimum 3 years casework or case management experience in the areas of refugee settlement, housing, domestic violence, mental health or disability
  3. Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities and expertise in cross-cultural communication
  4. A demonstrated understanding of the settlement issues impacting on newly arrived refugee families and local community services available to assist clients
  5. Expertise and experience in writing detailed social services documents for funding bodies, government departments or similar, for example case management plans, reports, funding applications, program evaluations, etc
  6. Highly developed assessment and planning skills
  7. Ability to undertake short-term crisis work in a sensitive, client-focused and strengths-based manner
  8. Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  9. A current driver’s licence and access to own vehicle during work hours

 Other Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

10.   Fluency in a relevant community language other than English will be highly regarded
