Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre has been supporting newly arrived migrants to successfully settle in Australia for more than 25 years. Our Settlement team in Coburg has an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced settlement worker to join the team. This role works at the grass roots level, delivering case work, assisting families and developing education and community capacity building projects.

The role involves providing high quality immigration and general settlement casework with priority to humanitarian refugee entrants and the design and delivery of community education and community capacity building projects to migrant communities in the northern region. Previous experience working with the Assyrian Chaldean community will be well regarded.

Requirements

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, community development or related disciplines and experience in the area of migrant settlement or a related human services sector
  • Complex case work experience
  • Highly developed cross cultural competence and counseling
  • Groupwork, training & facilitation skills and experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of immigration and settlement services
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including skills in facilitating groups and delivering presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to enhance the team environment
  • Proficient use of MS Office

Desirable

  • Fluency in a relevant (humanitarian) language
  • Current Migration Agent Registration
  • Current driving license and access to own car
