CHC30202 Certificate III in Home and Community Care

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This practical course gives you the skills to provide care and support, within residential homes and the community, to older people or people with disabilities. You will carry out activities related to the maintenance of an individual’s personal care and/or other activities of daily living under regular supervision. This encompass' all aspects of needs, not just the physical.

This course prepares you for employment as an aged care or personal care worker with older people and people with disabilities in both community and residential settings. This could include:

Articulation:

This course can provide advanced pathways into other Certificate III level qualifications such as CHC30302 Certificate III in Disability Work, CHC30102 Certificate III in Aged Care Work (for those seeking employment in residential services) or CHC40302 Certificate IV in Disability Work or CHC40102 Certificate IV in Aged Care Work.

Entry Requirements:

Basic literacy and numeracy skills and a genuine interest in caring for an older person.

People who wish to take part in the course will need the following things:

  • A willingness to help other people
  • A desire to learn new skills
  • A genuine ability to get along well with people from all walks of life
  • A current (within the last six months) National Police Clearance. This is an industry requirement and you will need this Police clearance if you wish to take part in any industry placement which is a required component of the course.

Course Content:

The course consists of 15 units including 10 Core Units and 5 electives. Students must complete all compulsory core competencies, + 5 elective competencies to receive the certificate.
